Purpose
The Navi Mumbai International Airport is being developed to decongest Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport and support the rapidly growing aviation demand in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. It aims to enhance connectivity, boost trade, tourism, and economic growth, and position Mumbai as a major global aviation hub. The project also drives regional development in Navi Mumbai through infrastructure expansion, job creation, and improved logistics networks. Designed as a modern, sustainable airport, it reflects India’s push toward next-generation aviation infrastructure.
