Purpose
The Reliance Jamnagar Refinery was developed to establish India as a global leader in petroleum refining and petrochemicals. It serves as a highly complex and flexible refining hub capable of processing low-cost crude into high-value fuels and chemicals for both domestic consumption and export markets. The project significantly enhanced India’s energy security, contributed to self-sufficiency in transport fuels, and positioned Jamnagar as a global energy hub. Its integrated oil-to-chemicals model also maximizes value across the hydrocarbon chain, making it one of the most efficient and strategically important refinery complexes in the world.
